Postcard from Japan: Blank Round’s Journey to Kyoto

Postcard from Japan: Blank Round’s Journey to Kyoto

Just like a postcard that took its time, this post has finally made its way here. Earlier this year, our creator, Oscar, made a last-minute trip to Japan, viewing Tokyo’s streetwear culture through Blank Round’s unique lens.

His words: Solitude allows you to reflect

Solo travel brings a different type of calm. When I’m alone, I notice things that perhaps aren’t so obvious in the hustle of daily life. This trip was a chance to explore Japan, from the high-energy streets of Tokyo to the serene, quiet charm of Kyoto.

In Tokyo, I immersed myself in Japan’s street style, drawing inspiration from its vibrant streetwear scene. But it was Kyoto’s stillness that shared a new perspective with me. The contrast between the two cities helped me reflect on both personal growth and the evolution of Blank Round.

I stayed at a traditional ryokan, where I embraced the calm, bathed, and experienced a decadent kaiseki dinner. It was in these quiet moments that I reconnected with myself and reevaluated what’s next for me and Blank Round’s streetwear journey. Kyoto’s slow pace allowed me to fully appreciate the stillness that life can offer—so different from the fast beats of Tokyo or Sydney.

Through this journey, I found new clarity and inspiration for Blank Round. The city’s tranquility reminded me that sometimes, the most significant growth comes in moments of solitude and reflection.

End.
